Decant

carafer (F)

Designation (by fr. Carafer) for the pouring of a wine bottle into one carafe (Decanter carafe) or container for the purpose of airing (Oxygen contact). By contrast, stands at decanting (French Décanter) separating from depot (Dregs) in the foreground. Quite often however, decantation means both. If the wine from the carafe back into the bottle back filled (because, for example, not enough carafes are available), this is called Fall Decaling (English Decanting). See also below Weingenuss,
