Dedo de Dama

The white grape variety originates from Portugal. Synonyms are Almenhaca, Alminhaca (second main name), Bougseb, Bouqseb, Bouqsob, Fedit 51-C, Ferral Branco, Lambrusque A and Teta de Cabra. According to DNA analyses carried out most recently in 2013, she is the result of a presumably natural cross between Dika II and an unknown partner. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see Molecular Genetics). The variety was a parent of the presumably natural crosses Bezoul el Aouda, Boal Branco, Chelva and Diagalves. It is used as a wine press and table grape and is grown in the Centro and Norte regions in very small quantities. In 2016, a scanty hectare of vines was reported (Kym Anderson statistics).
