Delago

The red grape variety is an interspecific new breed between Delaware x Goethe. The name is formed from the first letters of the parents. It contains genes from Vitis aestivalis, Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1883 in the USA by the American botanist Thomas Volney Munson (1843-1913). It is an all-female grape variety. It was a crossing partner in the new varieties Palermo (1) and Xenia (2). The berries have a light muscatel tone. In 2016, however, no stocks were reported (Kym Anderson).
