delicious

Term used in the context of a wine address for the "deliciousness" (good taste) of a wine. It is not uncommon for this to be based on an exaggeratedly fruity or sweetish taste (wines that are completely dry are not usually described as "delicious"). However, professional wine critics hardly use the already inflationary term or even vehemently reject it because its meaning is far too unclear/imprecise. In the opinion of critics, "delicious" has completely degenerated into a non-word like "mega", "awesome" or "full" and has spread at the expense of a more differentiated expression, as well as the superficial "delicious taste" at the expense of a real, differentiated taste. It is not uncommon for so-called Coca-Cola wines (mainstream wines) to be described as "delicious". See also under the taste terms jammy and droppy.
