Dellchen

single vineyard in the municipality of Norheim in the German wine-growing region of Nahe. It is a steeply rising rock directly on the Nahe with small hollows (depressions) in between. These are dialectally known as "Dellen" (dents) and belittled as "Dellchen" (little dells), from which the name is derived. The south-facing vineyards at an altitude of 120 to 170 metres above sea level with a slope of 50 to 70% cover almost eight hectares of vineyards. They are partly terraced with dry stone walls. The soil consists of weathered volcanic rock (porphyry and melaphyre) with a high iron content and stony-gritty loam. There is an excellent water supply. The Riesling and Müller-Thurgau varieties are cultivated here. The Anheuser Paul, Dönnhoff Hermann, Mathern and Schneider Jakob wineries, for example, have shares in the site.
