The "Weingut -Privatkellerei Johannes Deppisch" is located in the municipality of Erlenbach near Marktheidenfeld (Mainviereck area) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. It was founded in 1872. The property also includes the restaurant "Weinhaus Anker", the "Weinkeller Schöpple" and the "Hotel Anker". It also organises many impressive events such as vintage car festivals, vineyard tours with barbecue parties and live music, as well as company parties. Today, the winery is run by Johannes Deppisch, the fifth generation of the family, and Jörg Liese is responsible for the cellar technology. The vineyards cover 25 hectares of vines in individual sites in two growing regions. In Franconia, these are Krähenschnabel (Erlenbach), Feuerstein (Röttingen), Kallmuth (Homburg), Schlossberg (Klingenberg) and Kreuzberg (Marktheidenfeld). In Baden, this is Mandelberg (Dertingen).
They are planted with the white wine varieties Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Ehrenfelser, Rieslaner and Kerner, as well as with the red wine varieties Domina, Schwarzriesling (Pinot Meunier) and Blauer Portugieser. The vineyards are cultivated in a natural way according to the principles of integrated p est management. This is achieved through fertilisation with compost, pest control using the confusion method and beneficial insects, species-rich cover crop and wide vine rows with airy vines. Environmental awareness is also practised by using unbleached paper, taking back and reusing bottles and recycling used corks.
The wines marketed under the name Rivaner (Müller-Thurgau) are fermented very cool and vinified lively with a lot of natural carbonic acid. In principle, great importance is attached to moderate acidity and fruitiness. The wines, gently vinified in a non-invasive way (with as few interventions as possible), are given a lot of time during their development. The extremely extensive product range includes red and white wines in the traditional Franconian Bocksbeutel from many classic grape varieties, Rotling (red and white grapes), JOSECCO (sparkling wines), Schoppenfetzer (in 1-litre bottles), various bottle-fermented sparkling wines, noble brandies (fruit, sloe, marc, yeast), liqueurs (red wine, fruit) and wine jelly. The products are also available in various gift assortments. A special feature is the "Golf Collection" with wines, brandies, liqueurs and golf accessories.
