The winery is located in the municipality of Via Dante in the province of Palermo in the Italian region of Sicily. It was founded in 2006. The winery is run by Sebastiano di Bella and Carmela di Bella, and Giorgio Marone is the oenologist in charge. The vineyards are planted in two different ways: firstly as Alberello (Gobelet), which has been maintained as a traditional method with the aim of producing higher quality wines, and secondly in trellis training. They cover 20 hectares of vineyards planted with the red varieties Nero d'Avola, Merlot and Syrah, and the white varieties Catarratto Bianco and Grillo. The product range includes three lines. These are "Villa Vulcano", "Icone" and "Tradizione". The flagship of the house is "Sense" made from 100% Nero d'Avola from selected vines raised by Albarello (Gobelet). The grapes, hand-picked in small crates, are vinified in steel or cement tanks and then matured in the bottle. About 300,000 bottles of wine are produced annually, of which about 70% are exported mainly to China, Canada and the USA.
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
