The name of the Roman goddess of hunting, light and birth was given to three different grape varieties (Germany, Bulgaria, USA). In addition, Diana is also synonymous with the Tihany variety.
This white grape variety is a new cross between (Bicane x Krivalja Bijela) x Cardinal. The crossing was done in Bulgaria by Mincjo Kondarev. It is used as table grape. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
This white grape variety is a new variety (also Geilweilerhof 30N-8-127) between Silvaner x Müller-Thurgau. It was crossed by the breeders Peter Morio (1887-1960), Bernhard Husfeld (1900-1970) and Gerhardt Alleweldt (1927-2005) at Geilweilerhof. It was a crossing partner for the Regent variety. Incidentally, the same parents also produced the new varieties Gloria and Mariensteiner. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
This red-berried grape variety is an open-pollinated seedling of Catawba. It contains genes from Vitis labrusca x Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was selected in the USA in 1843 by Diana Crehore. It is used as a wine grape and table grape and is cultivated in New York State. It was a crossing partner in the new variety Diana Hamburg. An open-pollinated seedling of it is Iona. However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
