The German winegrower Armin Diel (* 1953) is the owner of Schlossgut Diel in the municipality of Burg Layen-Rümmelsheim in the German growing region Near, After studying economics in Mainz and law in Münster, he has made a name for himself as a restaurant and wine journalist since the early 1980s.
He is a member of numerous national and international juries in wine competitions. Until 2009, Diel and his partner Joel B. Payne published the German edition of the wine guide Gault Millau out. He moderated gastronomic TV series, wrote accompanying books and leads culinary wine tours.
Diel is chairman of the VDP-Nahe and since 2007 vice president of the VDP (Association of German quality wine estates). He has already received numerous honors for his services. In 2003 he was awarded the "Trophy of Origin Germany" by the VDP for "outstanding journalistic achievements on German wine".
