The German winegrower Armin Diel (* 1953) is the owner of Schlossgut Diel in the community of Burg Layen-Rümmelsheim in the German wine-growing area Near, After studying economics in Mainz and law in Münster, he has made a name for himself since the early 1980s as a gastronomy and wine journalist.
He is a member of numerous national and international juries in wine competitions. With his partner Joel B. Payne Diel gave until 2009 the German edition of the wine guide Gault Millau out. He moderated gastronomic TV series, wrote accompanying books and leads culinary wine tours.
Diel is Chairman of the VDP-Nahe and since 2007 Vice President of the VDP (Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter). He has already received numerous honors for his services. In 2003 he was awarded by the VDP with the "Trophy Origin Germany" for "outstanding journalistic achievements to the German wine".
He is in the campaign "Of course cork "Of the Portuguese Cork Association APCOR and the German Cork Association e. V. (DKV), which endeavors to improve and use natural cork.
