Diem Johann

The estate is located in the municipality Hohenruppersdorf in the Lower Austrian wine region Weinviertel, The company, which was taken over by Johann Diem in 1972, has been run by his son Ewald Diem since 2008 in the fifth generation of the family. The vineyards cover ten hectares of vineyards in, for example, the vineyards Breitenlus, Steinberg and Wegscheid. They are planted to 60% with the white varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Neuburger, Müller-Thurgau, Red Muscat, and 40% with the red varieties Zweigelt, Pinot Noir and Blauburger. It is operated consistently close to nature, environmentally friendly viticulture. Great emphasis is placed on high-quality, physiologically fully ripe grape material. The majority of white wines are traditionally aged in stainless steel tanks with long yeast storage. The ripened and slightly squeezed red wine grapes are fermented in red wine tanks and then expanded in large oak barrels, or some specialties in oak barrels. As a rule, only a one-time filtration takes place. Among the premium wines count Weinviertel DAC Breitenlus (Grüner Veltliner) and Pinot Noir Exclusive. In weather-appropriate years and ice wines are pressed. The winery is a member of the Hauer community Matzner hill.
