Dimrit

The red grape variety originates from Turkey. Synonyms are Aküzüm, Bekari, Black Dimrit, Dilmit, Dimlit, Dimrit Kara, Dimrit Noir, Dirmit, Dirmit Kara, Kara Dimrit and Kara Üzüm Dimriti. There are at least three varieties called Akdimrit, Burdur Dimriti and Dimrit, which are considered members of the Dimrit group. DNA analyses carried out in 2007 identified another 20 varieties with the name component Dimrit as mostly independent varieties. And according to DNA analyses carried out in 2018, it is genetically identical to the Greek variety Bekari. The early-maturing vine has berries rich in sugar and is susceptible to botrytis. It produces red wines of rather simple quality. The variety is widespread in Cappadocia in central Anatolia, where it is mainly used for the production of table grapes and sultanas, but also as wine grape. In 2016, a vineyard area of 704 hectares was reported (Kym Anderson).
