Dindarella

The red grape variety originates from Italy. Synonyms are Bindarella, Dindarella Rizza, Dindarella Veronese, Pelada, Pelara, Pelara Veronese, Quaiara and Quajara. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2010, the Pelara variety is identical. There is a genetic relationship to the leading variety Garganega. However, the exact parentage is unknown. A direct descendant is the variety Scacco. The medium-maturing vine is resistant to botrytis. It produces colourful, spicy-aromatic red wines. The variety was once widespread in the Veneto region. It is permitted in the DOC wines Valdadige and Valpolicella. In 2016, however, it occupied only five hectares of vineyards (Kym Anderson).
