The red grape variety (also Pully 4-42) is a new breed between Rouge de Diolly ( Robin Noir ) x Pinot Noir, The crossing took place in 1970 by André Jaquinet at the research institute Changins in the Swiss canton of Vaud. The early to medium ripening, productive vine is susceptible to Verrieseln and millerandage but resistant to Botrytis, It produces colorful, tannin-rich red wines with blackberry aromas. The variety is mainly in the canton Wallis (where they are in branded wine Dole is used), but also in Vaud and Ticino grown and occupied 112 hectares of vineyards in 2010.
