Dirler-Cadé

The winery, located in the municipality of Bergholtz, is situated in the French wine-growing region of Alsace (Haut-Rhin). It was founded in 1871 by the former teacher Jean Dirler. Jean-Pierre Dirler resumed operations in 1962 after the estate had been deactivated for some time. Today it is run by his son Jean Dirler and his wife Ludivine. Biodynamic viticulture has been practised since 1998. A large part of the Cadé vineyard was taken over, resulting in an extension of the name to "Domaine Dirler-Cadé". However, only "Dirler" is still listed on the labels. The vineyards cover 17 hectares of vines, about 40% of which are in Grand Cru sites. The Grand Cru varieties Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and Muscat d'Alsace (Muscat Blanc), as well as Chasselas, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir and Sylvaner are cultivated. The property is divided among several sites. The wines under the AC Alsace Grand Cru come from the Kessler, Kitterlé, Saering and Spiegel sites.
