Abbreviation of former designations of several wine-growing countries for " quality wine of specified regions with controlled origin". They were replaced by PDO with the EU wine market regulation valid from August 2009. However, the old, traditional designations are still permitted in some countries. See also under quality system.

  • Argentina: Denominación de Origen Controlada
  • Italy: Denominazione di Origine Controllata - an even higher level is DOCG
  • Malta: Denominazzjoni ta' Oriġini Kontrollata (DOK).
  • Portugal: Denominação de Origem Controlada.
  • Romania: Vin cu Denumire de Origine Controlata
