The family winery is located in the municipality of Theyern in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Traisental. The Dockner family has been growing grapes in Theyern for four generations. It is managed by Thomas Dockner, actively supported by his wife Silke and his parents Gerhard and Elfriede. The vineyards cover 20 hectares of vineyards in the Hochschopf, Parapluiberg and Pletzengraben vineyards and the highest vineyard, Theyerner Berg, at 370 to 410 metres above sea level. They are divided into many small plots and terraced sites in the Traisental. The white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and Traminer are cultivated to 90%, and the red wine varieties Zweigelt and Pinot Noir to 10%. Grapes from another three hectares are purchased from contract winegrowers. The entire production is carried out according to the certified rules of Sustainable Austria.

Tom Dockner - Ried Pletzengraben

The vineyards are cultivated in a very natural and sustainable way. A specially composed herb mixture with many beneficial insects grows between the rows of vines. A favourable microclimate is created in the vine wall itself through manual foliage care, and the compost cycle ensures healthy and vital vines. The aim is to produce wines that are typical of the region and the variety. The wines are aged for a very long time on the fine lees in order to achieve a distinctive style full of character. The Pletzengraben and Hochschopf site wines are bottled gently after one year at the earliest. The premium wines include Rieslings and Grüner Veltliner Traisental DAC (Klassik and Reserve) with various vineyard designations. Naturally cloudy fruit juices (apple, apple-carrot, pear) and noble brandies (fruit, grapes) are also produced. The winery is a member of the Association of Traditional Wine Estates Austria.
