Doctor garden

Single location on Blankenhornsberg (area Kaiserstuhl) in the German growing area to bathe, It was created from the year 1842 by the brothers Adolph Friedrich, Nicolaus and Wilhelm Blankenhorn, who planted the first vines in the arable wilderness above the municipality of Ihringen in 1844. The son of Adolph Friedrich, Professor Adolph Blankenhorn (1843-1906) used this vineyard at an early stage for research and experimental purposes, from which this name derives its name. The predominantly west and east, as well as in the form of an amphitheater from west to southeast aligned vineyards in 210 to 300 meters above sea level with 10 to 60% slope include 25 hectares of vineyards. The volcanic weathering soils are interspersed with loess clay and calcareous loess material. Here, the varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Muscat, Muscat Ottonel, Scheurebe, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Noir are grown. The location was by the family Blankenhorn sold in 1919 to the Baden Chamber of Agriculture and in 1954 the State Wine Institute Freiburg affiliated. The vineyards are connected by the State Wine Estate Freiburg farmed.
