The winery in Saint-Etienne-du-Grès is in the AC Les Baux-en-Provence
on the north side of the Alpilles in the French region Provence
, It was founded in 1974 by architect Eloi Durrbach, who expanded his grandmother's summer residence into a winery. Half of the 20 hectares of vines are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. With methods of near-natural, Organic viticulture
and drastically minimizing the yield, a red wine is produced that has attracted international attention. However, due to the non-compliance with the AC requirements, the wine is "only" as Vin de pays Bouches-du-Rhône
classified, which does not detract from quality. A barrel-fermented white wine from Marsanne and Roussanne is also produced.
