The winery is located in the municipality of Guntersblum (Nierstein area) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. The estate, which formerly belonged to the cathedral chapter of Worms, has been in the family since 1874. After training as a winemaker and viticultural technician and internships at the Klaus Keller (Flörsheim-Dalsheim) and Keth (Offstein) wineries, it has been run by the fourth generation, Alexander Baumann and his wife Chris, since 2004. Attached is the three-star hotel "Schlafgut Domhof". The historical part of the winery was complemented in 2007 by the addition of an event area for wedding and family celebrations. The 150 m² event area blends in with the historic buildings with its vinotheque and kitchen. The landmark of the Domhof is the Petrus, carved in stone as a coat of arms on the entrance gate from 1754, which can also be found on the labels.

The vineyards cover around ten hectares, some of which are on the Rote Hang. Stocks exist in the single vineyards Bornpfad, Eiserne Hand, Himmelthal and Kreuzkapelle (Guntersblum), as well as Heiligenbaum, Paterberg, Ölberg and Pettenthal (Nierstein). Half of the vineyards are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling (one third of the stock), Silvaner, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Scheurebe, Bacchus and Kerner, and the other half with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Blauer Portugieser, Regent and Dornfelder. The motto of the house is "Quality is created in the vineyard". The quality criteria are consistent yield reduction and non-invasive or defensive cellar management.

The product range is divided into three lines: estate wines (refreshing and fruity), local wines (from the typical regional soils of Roter Hang, Löss and Kalk) and site wines (from small fillets of selected top sites). The local and premium wines are mostly fermented spontaneously. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are matured in stainless steel tanks or, like the premium wines, in barriques. The premium wines of the house are Riesling from Niersteiner Pettenthal, Riesling from Guntersblumer Himmelthal and the barrique-aged Pinot Noir Kreuz-Kapelle. Around 50,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Bottle-fermented vintner's sparkling wine, sparkling wine, mulled wine, grape juice, grape liqueur and grape marc brandy are also produced.
