The white grape variety comes from Spain. Synonyms are Blanco del Pais, Doradillo, Forastera Blanca, Plateadillo, Plateado and Plateado Picudo. In spite of apparently indicative synonyms or name similarities, it must not be confused with the varieties Beba, Cayetana Blanca (Doradillo, Plateado), Chelva (Forastera Blanca) or Dona Branca (Forastera Blanca). According to DNA analyses carried out in 2012, there is a parent-offspring relationship with the Cayetana Blanca and Albillo Mayor varieties. The variety is cultivated in the region of Andalusia in the DO areas of Malaga and Sierras de Málaga. In 2016, however, no more stock has been recorded; in 2010, there were still 40 hectares (Kym Anderson).
