The white grape variety is a new breed between Chasselas x Chardonnay. It was crossed in Switzerland in 1965 by Jean-Louis Simon and André Jaquinet at the Swiss Federal Research Institute Changins. The Charmont variety was also created with the same parents. The early-ripening vine is susceptible to trickle and botrytis. It produces yellow, aromatic white wines with apricot and citrus aromas. The variety is cultivated in the cantons of Vaud and Valais. In 2016, 35 hectares of vineyard area were designated (Kym Anderson statistics).
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
