The winery is located on the Spitzerberg, in the municipality of Prellenkirchen in the Carnuntum wine-growing region (Lower Austria). In its original form, the business was founded jointly by Dorli Muhr and Dirk Niepoort. In 2017, Dorli Muhr acquired the 50% share of her former partner. Since then, the winery has operated under the name "Dorli Muhr". As oenologist, Lukas Brandstätter is responsible for the technical aspects of the cellar.

The vineyards cover 11 hectares of vines on the Spitzerberg. The extremely wind-exposed vineyards on pure limestone are characterised by particularly dry conditions and low yields. The centrepiece is a small revitalised parcel of 0.17 hectares on the Ried Roterd on the middle slope of the Spitzerberg, which Katharina Muhr, the owner's grandmother, received as a wedding present in 1918. The plot was replanted in the 1990s and has been gradually expanded ever since. Great importance was attached to old vines.

Dorli Muhr set herself the goal of establishing the Spitzerberg as a recognised cru. As early as 2004, a group of quality-orientated winegrowers was founded, which defined the criteria for the use of the "Spitzerberg" origin and supported each other. In 2017, they joined the winegrowers' association Traditionsweingüter Österreich. The Spitzerberg vineyard was classified as Erste Lage, whereby the vineyard's name on the label is reserved for wines made from the Blaufränkisch variety, which accounts for 80% of the area. The second most important variety, Syrah, occupies 10% and the rest is planted with experimental varieties. The vineyards have been cultivated according to certified organic viticulture rules since 2018.

All wines are fermented spontaneously with the vineyard's or winery's own yeasts The red wines mature for two years in large wooden barrels. Single-vineyard wines are the three single-varietal Blaufränkisch Ried Spitzerberg, Liebkind Ried Kobeln and Ried Roterd. The local wine (also 100% Blaufränkisch) bears the name Prellenkirchen Samt&Seide. The Carnuntum regional wine is made from 75% Blaufränkisch and 25% Syrah. Around 40,000 bottles of wine are produced each year, of which around 80% are single-varietal Blaufränkisch. Around a quarter is sold in Austria, while three quarters are exported worldwide to the USA, Great Britain, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Thailand and Australia. The winery is also a member of "Die Rubin Carnuntum Weingüter".
