The red grape variety originates from France. Synonyms are Bâtarde Ronde, Dame Noire, Dame Noire Grise, Douce Noire du Bois and Ocanette de la Tarentaise. It was mentioned by Pierre Galet (1921-2019); there is supposedly no relation to the Douce Noire variety. It was an important variety in Savoie until the phylloxera disaster, but is no longer important. The early-maturing vine is mainly used as table grape. No stock was recorded in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
