Dr. Heger

The "winery Dr. Heger "is located in the municipality Ihringen (area Kaiserstuhl) in the German wine-growing region to bathe, It was founded in 1935 by dr. Max Heger, who operated it next to his doctor's office. His son Wolfgang Heger built it in the 1960s to today's leading position. The founder-grandson Joachim with his wife Silvia took over the business in 1992. The vineyards cover 26 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Schlossberg (Achkarren) and Winklerberg (Ihringen) on volcanic weathered soils. They are planted with the white varieties Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Silvaner, Chardonnay, Muscat, Scheurebe, Gewürztraminer and Viognier, as well as with the red varieties Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

The red wines go through an 18 to 25 days lasting mash fermentation. They then mature in barrique for 12 to 18 months. Even selected white wines are fermented and aged in oak barrels. In order to meet the great demand, Joachim Heger founded the "Weinhaus Joachim Heger" in 1986, for which befriended winegrower families supply the grapes from loam and loess soil. The grape variety level is similar to the above. These wines are marketed under "Weinhaus Joachim Heger".
