The winery is located in the municipality of Mülheim (Bernkastel area) in the German Moselle wine region. The traditional business has been in family ownership for over 250 years. Until 1967 the two wineries Conrad Schmidt and Friedrich Herrmann in Mülheim and Brauneberg were managed separately. Today's Dr. Leimbrock - C. Schmidt winery was then merged in 1967 by Friedhelm Leimbrock and Lore Leimbrock née Schmidt, from the farms of their ancestors. The winery is managed by Dipl. Betriebswirtin Ulrike Oeffling together with her brothers; cellar master is F. C. Leimbrock.

The vineyards cover 8.5 hectares of vineyards in the Badstube (Bernkastel), Sonnenlay (Mülheim), Himmelreich (Graach), as well as Juffer, Juffer Sonnenuhr and Mandelgraben(Brauneberg) sites. They are mainly planted with Riesling and smaller quantities of Pinot Blanc and Kerner. They are cultivated in a near-natural, environmentally friendly manner with regard to fertilization, as well as plant and soil protection. The wines are aged in the traditional style in large wooden barrels, mostly dry and semi-dry. In suitable years also noble sweet Beerenauslese and ice wines are pressed. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and spirits (Mirabelle, plum) are also produced.
