The winery is located in the municipality Bernkastel-Kues (Bernkastel area) in the German region Moselle, The Bergweiler family was first mentioned in the 15th century. In 1911 the estate of Mathias became Prüm (1835-1890) divided among his children. One of the heirs was Maria Katharina Prüm (1884-1954), who later became the second wife of the winery owner Zacharias Bergweiler (1861-1934). The estate was founded in 1959 by Dr. Peter Pauly inherited. After studying business administration and vinological training in Geisenheim he continued his grandfather's legacy. Various trips to Napa Valley inspired him to build a modern company. By marrying Helga Berres, the Peter Nicolay winery was integrated. Since 2006 the business has been run by his son Stefan Pauly as the owner.
The Riesling vineyards cover 17 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Old bath room on Doctorberg. Bratenhöfchen. dig. Lay and math pictures in the large Badstube (Bernkastel); Juffer and Juffer sundial ( Brauneberg ); prelate and podium (Earth); Domprobst and Heaven (Graach); Goldwingert sole proprietorship and Würzgarten (Ürzig); Klosterberg and sundial (Wehlen); such as Heaven (Zeltingen). Low yields and selective hand picking are important quality criteria. The wines are carefully grown with the aim of preserving the typical vineyard notes. They are fermented by layer in small stainless steel tanks with controlled low temperatures. The broad Riesling collection includes all quality levels. In selected vintages suitable for the weather, hand-selected berries, dried berries and ice wines are pressed. Bottle-fermented sect are also produced. The winery is a member of Bernkasteler Ring and in the cooperation Gutskomplizen (five wineries).
