Duché-d'uzès

Appellation in the southwest of the French winegrowing region Rhone, The name refers to the duchy of Uzès, which existed until the French Revolution. The former IGP area was classified in 2012. The vineyards cover nearly 300 hectares of vineyards on soils of sandstone, marl, pebbles and limestone. They cover 77 municipalities in the département Gard, Red and rosé wines are made from the main varieties Grenache Noir ( Garnacha Tinta ) and Syrah, as well as Carignan Noir ( mazuelo ) Cinsault and Mourvèdre ( Monastrell ) blended. The white wines are made from the main varieties Grenache Blanc ( Garnacha Blanca ) and Viognier, as Marsanne. Roussanne. Vermentino. Clairette and Ugni Blanc ( Trebbiano Toscano ) pressed.
