Designation (also Lage) for the second smallest vineyard unit in Germany as the geographically protected origin of a wine. Single vineyard designations are prescribed for all German wine-growing areas. Since 2014, it has been possible to have smaller areas within a single vineyard, which can also be cross-locational, entered in the vineyard register as a cadastral site (smallest area unit), which is also used by individual wineries.
