Duke of Württemberg

The estate is located at Monrepos Castle near Ludwigsburg (Remstal-Stuttgart area) in the German wine-growing region Wuerttemberg, The winegrowing tradition at Württemberg goes back to the 13th century. However, the actual foundation only took place in 1677 through the establishment of the "chamber writing cellar" in Untertürkheim. From the middle of the 17th century to the end of the 19th century, the House of Württemberg acquired seven of the best vineyards in the country. The modern winery, completed in 1981, is located in the romantic park of Monrepos Castle. In the immediate vicinity are the Schlosshotel Monrepos with 81 rooms, ultra-modern event rooms and the restaurant "Gutsschenke" as well as a golf course.

Today's owner is SKH Carl Herzog von Württemberg, who is represented in the winery by his son Herzog Michael. It is the largest private winery in the growing area. The vineyards cover 40 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Berg (Asperg), Brotwasser privately owned (Stetten), Eilfingerberg (Maulbronn) Käsberg (Mundelsheim), Kirchberg (Hohenhaslach), Mönchberg (Untertürkheim), as well as Steinbachhof and Wachtkopf (Gündelbach). The main cultivated varieties are Riesling, Trollinger, Lemberger and Pinot Noir. The winery has been a member of VDP,
