Duranija

The white grape variety originates from Croatia. Synonyms are Brajda Vela, Brajdenica, Draganela, Duranea, Durania, Duranija Bijela, Duranja, Duranja Pregara, Duronija and Supljika. The parentage is unknown. The medium to late ripening vine is very susceptible to powdery mildew and botrytis. It produces rather low-alcohol white wines, which are mostly blended with the variety Malvazija Istarska. The variety, which is threatened with extinction, is cultivated in Istria-Croatia and also in Slovenia under the name Brajdenica. However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
