Early Muscat

The white grape variety is a new breed between Muscat d'Hamburg x Szölöskertek Királynöje ( Queen of the vineyards ) what happened through 2010 DNA analysis has been confirmed. Synonyms are California K 4-19, Erli Muskat, Early Muskat and Muskat Rani Bijeli. The cross was made in 1943 by Dr. Harold P. Olmo (1909-2006) at the University of California in Davis. The variety protection was granted in 1958. The early ripening vine produces white wines with aromas of peaches and oranges and subtle nutmeg, In California it is used exclusively as table grape used in Oregon also made wines from it. But it is grown in many countries. Also in Austria Early Muskat is approved as a grape variety, but no stocks are shown.
