Producer description of "Weingut Ebner - Florian Unterthiner"

The "ebner" vineyard (historical farm name) is located above the small wine village of Atzwang (municipality of Ritten) in the southernmost Eisack Valley in the Italian wine-growing region of ( rol region). A Buschenschank is attached. The farm is run by Brigitte and Florian Unterthiner, the third generation of the family. The vineyards cover 4.5 hectares of vines on sandy-loamy, calcareous and porphyry soils at 450 to 550 metres above sea level. They are planted with the white wine varieties Weißburgunder, Grüner Veltliner, Gewürztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as the red wine varieties Blauburgunder, Vernatsch ) and Blauer Zweigelt.

Most of the vines are around 30 years old. only takes place during drought stress. The vineyards are cultivated in a natural way, using organic (cow dung) and no . Great importance is attached to quality-enhancing yield regulation through , shoot adjustment, , and , whereby these measures are carried out by hand.

The white wines are aged for several months on the . The red wines are aged in barriques (Vernatsch in part). The product range includes various South Tyrolean DOP wines (Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Vernatsch) and wines (Grüner Veltliner, Gewürztraminer), as well as the IGT Blauer Zweigelt. The winery is a member of and the Vereinigung Eisacktaler Weinproduzenten.
