The estate is located in the commune of Bechtheim (Wonnegau area) in the German wine-growing region Rheinhessen, The origin is in 1871, when Georg Geil bought the parent company and thus laid the foundation stone for viticulture. Son Johann Geil I. Economics Council zu Bechtheim was a co-founder of the Raiffeisenbank and for many years mayor of Bechtheim. He was also the namesake of the winery. Today it is owned by Karl Geil-Bierschenk and his son, Dipl. Ing. Johannes Geil-Bierschenk, who after studying in Geisenheim is responsible for the basement. The total property is 55 hectares. The vineyards cover 27 hectares in individual locations Geyersberg. Hasensprung, Heiligkreuz, Rosengarten and Stein (Bechtheim). They are planted with the white varieties Riesling (25%), Kerner, Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Müller-Thurgau, Rieslaner, Huxelrebe and Scheurebe, as well as with the red varieties Pinot Noir, Pinot Noir, Dornfelder and Blauer Portugieser. After gentle pressing, controlled fermentation, expansion in stainless steel tanks and wooden barrels and early bottling take place. Specialties of the house are noble sweet selection, berry selection and dry berry selection, as well as ice wines in suitable years.
