Traditional white wine cuvée from the Alsace
who belongs to the group of wines in the appellation Alsace counts. The name means "noble waste" and is derived from "pinching" (cutting off parts). The wine is also marketed under the French name "Gentil" (amiable, nice). It is blended from at least two of the approved varieties, mostly Auxerrois, Sylvaner and Chasselas. The version "Zwicker", which was previously classified as its own AC, has long been abandoned. The Edelzwicker was still a high-quality cuvée in the first half of the 20th century, today it is largely considered a very simple wine and is no longer of great importance.
