The red grape variety (also Édéréna) is a new breed between Merlot x Abouriou, The crossing took place in 1952 France by the Basque breeder Pierre Marcel Durquéty (* 1923) on behalf of the INRA in collaboration with the university Montpellier, The medium-maturing vine produces low-alcohol, aromatic red wines. It is grown in France on less than one hectare and by a producer in the Swiss canton Vaud grown. In California there are through the University of California and from the Weinmulti Gallo an experimental extension. In 2010, however, no stocks were shown (Statistics Kym Anderson ).
