The winery is located in the municipality of Tiefenthal-Großweikersdorf in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wagram. The family business is run by Josef Ehmoser and his wife Martina in the third generation. The vineyards cover 17 hectares of vineyards in the Großweikersdorf vineyards Georgenberg, Hohenberg (both deep loess) and Steinberg (loess interspersed with sand). 80% of the vineyards are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner,Pinot Blanc and Riesling, and 20% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt and St. Laurent. Natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is practised. The entire production is carried out according to the certified rules of Sustainable Austria. The bottle label illustrates the winery's high regard for the natural elements of sun and water as well as the vines.
The vinification of the wines is oriented towards the objectives of varietal typicity and "deceleration" with sufficient time for development. The white wines are fermented in stainless steel tanks and in large wooden barrels and stored for longer on the fine lees. Some of them are also aged in concrete bar rels. The red wines mature for 12 months in large wooden barrels. The product range includes white wines in the lines estate wine, local & terroir wine and estate wine, as well as red wines and a rosé wine. In years with suitable weather conditions, ice wine is also produced. The winery is a member of Traditionsweingüter Österreich.
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
