The white grape variety (also Geisenheim 6414-36) is a new breed between Ehrenfelser x Reichensteiner, The crossing took place in 1964 in the research institute Geisenheim (Rheingau) by Dr. Helmut Becker (1927-1990). The name is derived from the Ehrenbreitstein fortress near Koblenz, or was formed according to a second version from the beginning of the mother variety, the middle part as a tribute to the fortress and the end of the father variety. The variety protection was granted in 1993. The variety is resistant to both mildews and the winter frost. It produces a green-yellow, fragrant and acidic white wine that resembles Riesling. In 2010 the vine occupied in Germany 10 hectares of vines, of which 8 in Rheinhessen,
