living German Gerhard Eichelmann brings the annual wine guide
"Eichelmann Germany's wines" out. After a successful international career as a management consultant, he founded the independent wine magazine "Mondo" in 1997 and the publishing house "Mondo Heidelberg". The wine guide introduces the best German wine producers and their wines. The 2006 edition includes 936 wineries with 9390 wines. Each winery in the whole and their wines in the order sect, white wines, rosés and Weißherbste and red wines is evaluated. The basis of the winery assessment is the total output of the producer in the last three years. Therefore, 5 stars (world class, international top producer), 4 stars (excellent), 3 stars (very good), two stars (good) and 1 star (above average, reliable) will be awarded.
Each producer is also described with history, general information such as vineyard area and verbal assessment and news. The wine descriptions are made according to the criteria impression in the bouquet and impression in the mouth. The wine review
takes place according to the international 100-point system. The rating scale is on average (75 to 79), good (80 to 84), very good (85 to 89), 90 to 94 (excellent) to great, world class (95 to 100). For selected wines, the reviews of earlier vintages can be found at the end of the wine description. For the wineries of the year the special awards best red wine collection, best white wine collection, best noble sweet collection and rising of the year are awarded. The self-published "Champagne" (wine tour guide) and "champagne" (800 rated products) appeared.
