single vineyard in the municipality of Jechtingen (Kaiserstuhl area) in the German wine-growing region of Baden. The vineyards, which are predominantly south-south-west facing on the slope and west-facing in the flatter area, lie at an altitude of 180 to 260 metres above sea level with a slope of 5 to 30% and cover 53 hectares of vines. A wave in the course creates a slight hollow. The soils consist of reddish-coloured, weathered volcanic rock. The main varieties cultivated here are Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. The Bercher, Helde and Winzergenossenschaft Jechtingen wineries, for example, have shares in the site.
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
