Producer description of "Weingut Elsnegg"
The winery is located in the municipality of Gamlitz-Eckberg in the Austrian wine-growing region of South Styria. A Buschenschank and a guesthouse are attached. The farm is run by Engelbert and Monika Elsnegg. Daughter Regina joined the business after serving as wine queen and training as a master winemaker and cellarer. The vineyards cover ten hectares of vines in the Eckberg, Edelbach, Steilhang and Urlbach sites. About 80% of the vineyards are planted with the white wine varieties Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Welschriesling, Muskateller, Rheinriesling and Roter Traminer, the rest with Zweigelt. The wines are produced in the lines Klassik (young, fruity wines) and Lagenweine (full-bodied wines from the best sites). Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and brandies are also produced.
