The winery is located in the municipality of Bad Kreuznach in the German wine-growing region of Nahe. It has been in the family for over 300 years. Ursula Emrich-Montigny is responsible for the representation and administration of the winery, while Sebastian Schneider and Caroline Montigny have been in charge of viticulture and cellar management since July 2008. The vineyards cover 11 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Forst, Kapellenpfad, Narrenkappe and Rosenberg (Bad Kreuznach), as well as Katzenhölle, Nonnengarten and Römerhelde (Planig). They are 60% planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Müller-Thurgau, Scheurebe, Silvaner, Kerner, Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer, and 40% with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Blauer Portugieser, Dornfelder, Dunkelfelder and Cabernet Sauvignon. Natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is consistently practised, for example with sparing use of sprays and fertilisers. Depending on the type, the wines are matured in steel tanks or traditionally in large wooden barrels. Around 150,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Fine spirits (yeast, marc) and bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.
