Emrich-Montigny

The winery is located in the municipality Bad Kreuznach in the German growing region Near, It has been family-owned for over 300 years. Ursula Emrich-Montigny is responsible for the representation and administration of the company, Sebastian Schneider and Caroline Montigny have been responsible for viticulture and cellar management since July 2008. The vineyards cover 11 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers of forest, chapel path, fool's cap and Rosenberg (Bad Kreuznach), as well as cat hell, nun garden and Römerhelde (Planig). They are planted to 60% with the white varieties Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Müller-Thurgau, Scheurebe, Silvaner, Kerner, Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer, as well as 40% with the red varieties Pinot Noir, Blue Portuguese, Dornfelder, Dark Fields and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is consistently practiced near-natural, environmentally friendly viticulture with, for example, economical use of spray and fertilizer. Depending on the type, the wines are aged in steel tanks or traditionally in large wooden barrels. Around 150,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Fine brandies (yeast, pomace) and bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.
