The winery is located in the municipality of Kardaun (Cardano) on the eastern edge of the Bolzano basin at 285 m above sea level in the Italian wine-growing region of South Tyrol (Trentino-Alto Adige). The entire winery is surrounded by a water wall dating back to 1779, which protects against dangerous floods. The farm is dedicated to the cultivation of pearls with a high number of vines per hectare coupled with low yields by thinning out and dividing up to 60% of the grapes. The natural, gentle vineyard care is based on the principle of producing high-quality grapes. The use of artificial fertilizers and chemical weedkillers is avoided. The vineyards are not completely cleared, but only partly supplemented by young cuttings in order to achieve a high vine age.

The vineyards cover 9.5 hectares. The white wine varieties Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as the red wine varieties Lagrein, various Vernatsch varieties(Schiava), Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc are cultivated. With the most important variety Lagrein, decades of selection work have resulted in high quality offspring. The gentle pressing is partly done by whole grape pressing. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are aged in steel tanks, traditional wooden barrels, concrete barrels or French barriques. The product range includes various South Tyrolean DOC wines such as Lagrein Kretzer and St. Magdalener, as well as IGT wines. The winery is a member of Freie Weinbauern Südtirol and Ars Tirolensis.
