Name (also ethereal, occasionally also "high-toned") for the pleasant smell of a wine in the context of a wine address which is derived from the essential oils. These volatile vegetable substances have a strong odor characteristic of the parent plant. Essential oils consist largely of mixtures of different terpenes or aromatic compounds.
