The oldest and one of the largest producers on the island of Cyprus was founded in 1844 as a family business (now a public limited company). The head office is located in the city of Limassol in the wine-growing area of Commandaria. It produces according to certified quality standards of ISO 9001 and HACCP. The product range includes a wide selection of bottled wines that are marketed internationally. These include the best-selling Cypriot liqueur wine EMVA Cream Liqueur. A considerable proportion is sold in bulk for further processing (for example for sangria and Vermouth).

In 1992, a winery was founded in Omodhos under the name "Olympus Wineries Limited". The vineyards cover 40 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz (Syrah), Merlot, Chardonnay and Riesling. In 1999, the Olympus Hellas winery was purchased in Peloponnese, Greece. The POP wines Mantinia and Nemea are produced here. Etko also carries out research and experiments for the production of new wines and has planted its own vineyards with new grape varieties in the Zanadzia area for this purpose. The products are exported in Europe to Germany, Norway, Great Britain, Russia and Sweden, as well as to Australia, Japan, Canada, Taiwan and the USA.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
