There are two grape varieties with this name:
The white grape variety is an interspecific new variety between (Rupestris x Othello) x Herbemont d'Aurelles (an open-pollinated seedling of Herbemont). Synonyms are Castel 1115, Excelsior Guilly and Guilly Excelsior. Genes of Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera are included. The hybrid was crossed in France by the breeder Pierre Castel. It is cultivated in tiny quantities in the cantons of St. Gallen, Thurgau and Zurich. In 2016, a total of 0.3 hectares of vines were reported in Switzerland (Kym Anderson statistics).
The red grape variety (breeding no. IND004) is an interspecific new breeding between Iona x unknown Vitis vinifera. It contains genes from Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1882 in the USA by the breeder J. H. Ricketts. It is used as table grape. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
