Fader Kastanienhof

The estate is located in the commune of Rhodt unter Rietburg (southern wine route area) in the German wine-growing region palatinate, The traditional Kastanienhof has been family-owned since 1780. The company is now run by Karl-Heinz and son Knut Fader, supported by their wives Hedwig and Heike. The vineyards cover 18 hectares of vineyards in individual locations Münzberg (Godramstein), as well as monastery path, rose garden and Schlossberg (Rhodt). Grapes are purchased from contract winemakers from a further three hectares. The white varieties Riesling (mainly in the Schlossberg), Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Auxerrois, Muscatel and Gewürztraminer, as well as the red varieties Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Blauer Portugieser, Dornfelder, St. Laurent and Merlot are cultivated and processed.

There is a natural, environmentally friendly management. These include organic fertilization, blooming greening and intense foliage care with the aim of intact soils. When harvesting is on physiologically mature, healthy grapes. It becomes gentle with good must clarification, controlled fermentation and long storage on the lees processed. The white estate wines are fresh and fruity in steel tanks, the premium wines in 600 liter wooden barrels or in barrels. The red wines mature after maceration 6 to 18 months in 600 liter wooden barrels or with premium wines in barriques. The premium wines are Riesling Spätlese dry, Buntsandstein Alte Reben, Grauer Burgunder Spätlese dry Alte Reben and Cabernet Sauvignon Klosterpfad.
