Riede (vineyard site) in the municipality of Langenlois in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Kamptal. The partly terraced vineyard at 270 to 380 metres above sea level with a slope of up to 30° faces south to south-east and covers 32 hectares of vines. To the north, it is protected from cold winds by a dense pine forest. The soil consists of gneiss, quartzite, amphibolite and serpentinite covered with shallow brown earth. The roots have to make their way down through the hard rock. The white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling as well as the red wine varieties Blauburger and Zweigelt are mainly grown here. The Groll Wolfgang winery, for example, has a stake in the vineyard.
