The white grape comes from Italy; the name means after the grape form "foxtail". Synonyms include Alopecis, Cianca Rossa, Coada Vulpi, Coda di Volpe de Maddaloni, Coda di Vulpe, Durante, Falerno, Guarnaccia Bianca and Lisica Opasca Bjelaja. According to a hypothesis, it is the descendant of Pliny the Elder (23-79) ancient grape variety Alopecis, whose appearance reminded them of the "tail of a fox".
