Farmer Jörg

The estate is located in the municipality of Mülheim (Bernkastel area) in the German wine-growing region Moselle, The ancestors of the family have been cultivating vineyards since 1706. Today the company is run by Jörg Bauer and son Thomas. The vineyards cover over eight hectares of vineyards in individual locations Juffer ( Brauneberg ), Elisenberg and Kirchberg (Veldenz), as well as Elisenberg and Sonnenlay (Mülheim). They are mainly planted with Riesling, as well as Müller-Thurgau, Kerner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir and Dornfelder. Quality criteria in the vineyard are low gating, targeted thin out and late, selective hand picking from October to November. After gentle pressing, a cool and slow fermentation takes place in a classic wooden barrel or in a stainless steel tank. This is followed by long storage on the lees until spring of next year. If the weather is suitable, ice wines are also pressed. Noble brandies (pomace) and fruit liqueurs are also produced.
