The winery is located in the Free City Rust in the Burgenland (Austria). It was founded in the 1940s by Gustav Feiler, who marketed wine in bottles for the first time in 1947. The headquarters is a Baroque town house with a historic cellar, whose origins date back to the 16th century. The company is today run by Hans (vineyards) and his wife Inge Feiler, as well as their son Kurt Feiler (Keller) and his wife Katrin. The vineyards cover 30 hectares of vineyards. They are 65% with the red varieties Blaufränkisch , Zweigelt, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Shiraz, as well as 35% with the white varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Welschriesling, Traminer, Neuburger, Muscat Ottonel, Sauvignon Blanc and Ruländer planted. According to the operating motto "intact nature - healthy soil - great wines" the vineyards are since 2008 organically farmed.
The dry white wines are mostly sorted in steel tanks. The red wines ripen after malolactic fermentation in large wooden barrels and then for another 15 to 18 months in new barriques of French and small German oak. The company is one of the best sweet wine producers in Austria and internationally. The premium wines include, for example, various Ruster outbreak in the variants Basis to Essence, the named after the founder and fermented in barrique and matured "Cuvée Gustav" (different depending on the year), the "Cuvée Solitaire" ( Blaufränkisch , Merlot, Zweigelt), and the "Number Cuvée", which is consecutively numbered since 1993 from 999 (Cabernet Franc, Merlot).
